Writer-director, Robin Aubert, seems to have never thought about any of the practical issues that would arise in an apocalyptic, SHTF (S*** Hits The Fan) scenario. I wouldn't hold the idiocy of his characters against his movie if there was any sign that their stupidity was deliberate (ie a conscious artistic choice) but there isn't.
